National Restaurant Association for work by Chef Pierre – Timing is everything. Pierre Romain, long time executive chef at the Allendale Bar & Grill, started a humanitarian organization in the fall of 2009 to assist the disadvantaged in his native Haiti.

When the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the island nation in January, the Allendale and its sister concept the Mahwah Bar & Grill, immediately began raising money for the foundation.

The restaurant's owners, Craig and Chris Kunisch, threw a fundraising dinner. Servers donated their tips for the night and volunteered their time.

Employees helped spread the word to customers. The restaurants raised $150,000, which the Rose Foundation used to fill a cargo trailer with clothing, tents and other supplies that were sent to Haiti.

The customers response was humbling, Craig Kunisch said. They told the owners and employees "with all the thing your restaurants have done for us, it is a pleasure to help you and your chefs."

from Mahwah Boy Scouts for generosity and ongoing support for their troop.

2008 Semper Fi Certificate of Appreciation
given by the Mahwah Marine Moms and New Jersey Military Moms for fundraising efforts and assistance with getting care packages to our troops.

2004 Ramapo College Good Neighbor Award
for efforts towards and success in bridging a relationship between campus & community.

2004 Mahwah Pride Award
given by Mahwah Beautification Committee for outstanding efforts in improving and maintaining the property's curbside appeal and improving the beauty and character of Mahwah.
